Reconciling the ecological and engineering definitions of resilience

Assessing and managing the human influence on natural anthropic ecosystems strongly demands for robust measures of their resilience, especially in a world facing global changes as it is Earth now. Many definitions resilience have been proposed order to cover different contexts. However, they are mostly derived either from ecological or engineering which substantially differ between each other. Here, following strategy measuring system perturbations by return period impacts production (or equivalently inverse frequency), I demonstrate mathematical equivalence special class systems.
